Training Description:

In this presentation, there will be a focus on how to properly identify the intersection of mental health and addiction in the process of assessment, diagnosis, and treatment, understanding challenges in access and coordination of dual diagnosis care and learning ways to overcome obstacles to effective treatment.

Learning Objectives:

Objective 1: Identify the intersection of mental health and addiction in the process of assessment, diagnosis and treatment.

Objective 2: Identify strategies to break through barriers to access of care.

Objective 3: Understand challenges in the coordination of care with substance abuse organizations.

Objective 4: Identify obstacles to effective treatment and how to overcome them.

Dr. Nicole Kratimenos, Ed.D., LMHC, QS,

Barry University

Dr. Kratimenos earned her doctoral degree in Counseling Education and Supervision from National Louis University in Tampa, Florida. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor based in Palm Harbor, FL, where she operates her independent practice, Sound Mind Counseling. Dr. Kratimenos offers trilingual counseling services in English, Greek, and Spanish, specializing in cognitive behavioral methods. With a client base ranging from ages four and up, she provides individual, couples, family and group counseling. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Kratimenos serves as a core faculty professor at Barry University and is a Qualified Supervisor in the State of Florida. Notably, she currently presides over the Suncoast Mental Health Counseling Association. Dr. Kratimenos has showcased her expertise through years of experience working with the Department of Corrections providing Dual Diagnosis treatment in individual and group modalities. She has also presented at various conferences including for the FCA, ACES and AMHCA organizations. Dr. Kratimenos was also named Mental Health Counselor of the Year for the Florida Mental Health Counselors Association in 2021.
